Don't sit. Don't sit. Don't sit so close to me.

{photo by Steve Lakatos in the Hartford Courant}

This photo was on the front of the real estate section of Friday's paper. It's a model home, which means it was staged, which means you'd think someone would know better.

That`s my favorite song by the Police :)
Wow,I agree. They could have put two small chairs there with a side table and it would have looked a million times better.

Note how neither sofa is facing the TV or the fireplace. And eeeww, check out the short drapes!

That stager needs to go back to staging school.

Is this in a retirement community?

Penny - it looks like they ran out of fabric after they made the hideous valance.

Raina - Shockingly, it is NOT in a retirement community. It's one of the few new developments around here that isn't "55+ only". If you click on the link in the caption yo can see the slideshow - not much of one, it appears there are lots of seating areas, a garage and no bedrooms.

Yeah - talk about personal space!

I would also mention, as a possessor of hideous drapes, that those drapes are hideous.

The Bods ran straight to your door this morning!

Ha! Love this picture. "Hellooooo over there! Soooo glad you could visit! Is there an echo in here?"

Will you be back in town in time to join the Hooked on House Tours party Friday? I hope so! :-)

Eeeeek, that's ugly!
"Staging" homes is a trend we can only hope will die with the deflated real estate bubble. They remove all the personality from a place and turn it into a generic Marriot Suite.
And those curtains! Looks like someone lopped them off with a giant pair of shears.
