Hang on little tomato

Silly little tomato doesn't realize it's October. It's the size of a golf ball and hard as a rock, and with 48-degree days and another frost predicted for this weekend, the tomato and the last vestiges of parsley and basil on my little balcony garden are doomed.

Go listen to the song that inspired the title of this post. It's a Pink Martini kind of afternoon.

Hi Robin. I love this post. So sweet. Thanks for the music link. I had heard bits and pieces before... and now I think I must be off to download.
:-) Have a good rest-of-the-weekend!

Lets hope it ripens soon! There's nothing like a good ole home grown tomato. My mom recently purchased a winter tomato plant...here's to hoping it produces, and they're just as good as summer tomatoes!

How was Chicago? Hope you had a great time!!!

I LOVE Pink Martini... I first saw them when there were selling their own CDs and performing in free outdoor concerts... they were GREAT! The second time I saw them they were GREAT, but they were performing with the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl and didn't play enough... I left the performance longing for more... and I wasn't alone... people were walking out complaining. They are GREAT! I think I will listen to bothe their albums while I paint today!
ENJOY your day!

You know i cut back my basil early in summer and got another full harvest from it? I`m going to try and keep it in my garage during the winter because it still has several beautiful spigs of leafs on it :)

My tomatoes are barely hanging in there too but only because I neglect to water them as often as I should.

I'm going to try to pickle my green tomatoes. I read in a magazine article that you can just cut them in half and put them in the left over brine from store bought pickles. It seems like it's worth a try.
